Concierge Recommends...

If you are interested in learning more about the Emirati way of life, head to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and sit in on a cultural breakfast or lunch. Visitors can chat freely with locals on any topic they wish, be it modernisation, traditional dress or women’s rights.
Enjoy a selection of traditional Emirati dishes laid out on the floor, including khobbs khameer (bread), lugamat (sweet sticky doughnuts served with date syrup) and balaleet (omelette and chick peas).
Location: Bastakiya, Bur Dubai, close to Dubai Museum Entry: Cultural breakfasts are held most Mondays at 10am and cost AED50 per person. Lunches are held on Sundays at 1pm and cost AED60. Reservations are required for both.
